You are so harmful and so necessary

You are so harmful and so necessary Salt is white death repeats to us the popular media. It causes trouble for kidneys, pancreas and bladder, heart and arteries. But how many thousands of years have people used the salt, how much effort was made to get that white death So it turns out that we can not live without it? We do not. Because it flows through our veins in a   solution. And most human bodys contains about 120 grams of salt. If there is too small amount of it our muscles will not contract, blood will not circulate,  the food will not be digested  and our heart will not beat. However, scientists have still not been able to agree on how much salt in the body should be considered as is too low  and which amount   is too high. Recommended medical standards of salt intake are ranged from 3.5 to 8 grams per day. But our usual salt intake is 1.5-2 times higher than recommended rates. In fact, not only the excess, but the lack of salt causes irreparable harm to health. * Salt is an essential building block for the human body. Each of our cells is   a microscopic ion power plant, and its performance depends on many things, including the presence of salts. * Salt deficiency can lead to depletion of cells, which may result in swelling of the limbs and internal organs, the weakening of the blood pressure. Slowed thought processes, decreases physical activity of the gastro-intestinal tract and biliary ducts. * Salt supports hydro balance in the human body, regulates blood pressure and volume and contributes to the digestive functions. Do not overdo the salt, but do not give up on it altogether. Listen to your body, study its reaction, and everything will be fine, tasty and healthy. And to make it fun  here are some of the uncommon uses of the salt, lifehack tips: * A pinch of salt added to the coffee will improve the taste and remove excessive bitterness. * Add a pinch of salt to the milk and it will stay fresh much longer. * Just peeled apples, pears and potatoes, put into cold salted water, retain their color. * Tea and coffee deposits from the cups are easily removed with a wet sponge with salt.

Earth Day Education Ideas to Save Our Planet? - TutorNerds

Earth Day Education Ideas to Save Our Planet? - TutorNerds Earth Day Education: Ideas to Save Our Planet? For Students and Educators Earth day is in April and many students, teachers, and parents want to combine education with being Green. There are several great ways that students can celebrate Earth day in April, and every day of the year, while learning at the same time.? Here are a few suggestions from an Orange County private academic tutor (READ: 5 Books for the Nature Lover in You). Basic tips Students can learn about being eco-friendly by doing a visual check of the house before leaving for school. Are all the lights off? Are unused appliances unplugged for the day? Students can also learn about saving water, especially in California, by remembering to turn off the faucet when brushing their teeth or by taking shorter showers in the morning. These things seem very simple, but its a great way for children to learn about the importance of preserving resources for our planet. Walk instead of drive This is a great way for parents to work on physical education and saving the planet with their children. In the car-dominated areas of Southern California, parents and children can take a walk to the local supermarket or park. Having students walk or ride their bikes improves physical education awareness while learning about the environment and pollution reduction. Clean the beach Teachers and parents can organize a ‘clean the beach’ day through the PTA or parents can take their children as a family. Younger children will be amazed how much waste is left on the beach and it will help them learn how to use the trash can and recycle bin more often when at home. Its also a fun way to spend a day outside as a family (CLICK: How Much Plastic Is in the Ocean? You Tell Me!). Do a botanical science experiment Parents or teachers can purchase two different types of plants from the nursery, one that needs a lot of water in one that is drought resistant. They can set up the plants at home or in the classroom and demonstrate to younger children how much water is needed per day for each type of plant. When students have the opportunity to interact and participate, theyll often retain the result of the experiment. Teachers can add in a lesson about Botany if they wish to extend the experience. Online research Parents who find that it’s getting too hot to conduct outdoor activities this spring, can participate in online research with their children. Students can look at different climates and sub-climates focusing on the micro-climate here in Southern California. They can learn about disappearing reservoirs, plants and animals that are native to our local environment,  and learn about annual inches of rainfall increasing temperature. Students with a creative flair can create a poster project were they print out pictures of plants and animals local to our environment and learn about how much water they need to thrive. Better yet, parents can encourage artistic skill by asking their kids to draw the plants and animals for their poster project. Nature Hike Southern California is filled with beautiful foothills with family friendly hiking trails. Parents can take their kids on a short hike on the weekend so that they can see which types of plants thrive in a drought prone environment. Also, parents can discuss with their children the importance of conserving water and maintaining fire prevention in the natural landscape while on the hike (CLICK: Best Hiking Trails in Orange County). Arrange a trip to the nursery Teachers and parents can arrange to take children to the local plant nursery to study different types of botanicals and why some thrive in a desert-like climate, such as Southern California, and why others require additional water and shade (perhaps better suited to a cooler or more humid environment). Additionally, students can each take home a small plant and learn the specific amounts of water it will require to thrive. Parents who want to sneak in a little bit of creativity can bring a camera along for their children to photograph, and later draw, the different botanicals and succulents at the nursery. In short? No matter how teachers and parents choose to share Earth day with their students and children, its important that the younger generations understand the value of our natural resources and the importance of water conservation, recycling, and other ways of being Green in Southern California. Break time

Break time One of the best ways to ensure that your exam revision is effective, efficient and manageable, both mentally and physically, is to take regular breaks - no matter how much work you think you need to get done! The simple fact is that your brain is not able to work for a long time without a rest. If you've ever tried working for a whole day without a break, you'll know that doing so actually leads to massively unproductive results. Even if you don't grow tired and lose your concentration - which is the most likely outcome - you'll certainly start suffering from cabin fever! At the same time, you don't want to go the other way and start taking too many breaks. If you spend more than 50 per cent of your day walking in the park or watching TV instead of revising for your GCSEs or A-levels, you're doing something wrong. Conventional wisdom says that you should spend no longer than half an hour in revision before having a break. Breaks should last between five and ten minutes - no longer, otherwise you'll get out of your work rhythm. Try going outside for a short walk if you can, as the air will clear your head. Do take a longer break for lunch and also set a strict cut-off point for the end of your working day. Having the time constraints put on you by breaks and cut-off points helps you to work more efficiently.

The Science Behind Orgo Organic Chemistry

The Science Behind Orgo Organic ChemistryThe name orgo was derived from the German word for 'plant', and it means 'orgo oder'. The term was originally used to describe a chemists' study of the chemical reactions occurring between organic compounds in the form of plant cells, soil and air. It also refers to the study of biological chemistry or a branch of chemistry in which the chemistry of living organisms is studied.Organic chemistry was born during the nineteenth century when scientific investigation showed the importance of these compounds in the body. By putting together the first techniques to measure the level of particular compounds, or hormones, the scientists began to understand how the chemical and physical make up of these tissues in our bodies affects how our organs function. These chemistry discoveries were instrumental in determining what diseases a person has and can help them treat and prevent these illnesses. In the nineteen sixties, the first androids were produced w hich could live without food. They could also be used as a model to study human physiology. Since then, the various androids were used to study the effects of different drugs, the effects of dietary additives, and even the responses of humans to the medical treatments they received. The study of organic chemistry can also help explain the changing appearance of the skin, especially if the aging process is occurring in some parts of the body, such as the face and eyes. The effects of environmental toxins, like lead and copper, on the skin's tissue can be studied, and the different chemical agents in the environment which affect the levels of these compounds, including the age-old myth that lead is dangerous in the environment.A genetic mutation in humans, or a mutation caused by using a human cell organ, or 'autokinesis', has been linked to how aging occurs, and the kinds of changes that happen to the genes of a human as a result of this process. Several groups are involved in the stu dy of organic chemistry. Scientists at the National Cancer Institute have the task of researching how human cells are affected by carcinogens, and how these substances are transported in the body, so they can test which drugs can reduce their damaging effects and how they can be prevented from doing so.These researchers, working at the Department of Cancer Research, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Center for Environmental Health, have investigated the causes of skin cancer, heart disease, and a host of other diseases and ailments, as well as the association between environmental factors and them. These studies have helped show that the incidence of certain diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's disease, and even Parkinson's disease, is very closely related to the chemicals that we use every day, the manner in which we handle lead, and the types of foods we eat.The latest research on the many threats of organics is also being undertaken at the University of Washington, where an Associate Professor of Bioengineering is conducting research on how microorganisms affect human beings. This research has had an effect on the pharmaceutical industry, which used to assume that there was nothing wrong with their product, until they learned that it was the microbes in the pharmaceutical products, not the antibiotic medications, which were causing the immune system to attack the body. Instead of treating the microorganisms or bacteria, they needed to develop drugs which attacked the human cells instead, causing damage to the vital organs.

Unlike studying English or History, for example, which are taught in the context of the country in which they are being taught, Biology teaches about all human beings and explores the basics of our environment. So, no matter which country you end up living in or in which climate, you will still have a reasonable understandin g of how the nature around you works with a qualification in Biology, and how you as a human being interact with it and can nurture it.Biology teaches about how so many things on our planet work. Photo credit: NASA Goddard Photo and Video via Visual hunt / CC BYWith many tests and experiments waiting for them, Biology students can benefit from acquiring a wide range of practical skills through hands on work. They will be encouraged to not only study how Biology works, but how elements of the Science can be used to solve problems. As such, a number of other skills play a big part in the process of studying Biology, like Mathematics, Physics and Technology. No matter how good you are at the above, a Biology course is designed to bring out your best and is intended to provide you with the foundations for a profession related to the Sciences. Biology is a great subject to have under your belt if you dream of a career in Medicine, for instance.Offered by multiple exam boards, the syllabi all have the same purpose, which is to teach pupils about their place within the world, raise awareness and to build a passion for Biology.Biology at GCSE Level is offered by AQA, WJEC, Eduqas and OCR, among others.  The reformed Biology GCSE (which is now graded 9-1 as opposed to A*-E) started being taught from September 2016, which means that the first students to experience the amended exam will be examined in the upcoming summer.Below are two of the most popular exam boards for Biology GCSE.AQAAQA officials have worked alongside teachers to create a specification that will stimulate and motivate students. It is designed to help them understand how Science can be used to explain the world in which they live and the impact humans have on it. Your Biology course will teach you much about the intricacies of the human body, among other fascinating topics. Photo credit: Internet Archive Book Images via Visual Hunt / No known copyright restrictionsOCROCR's GCSE in Biology A helps students develop their biological knowledge and to deepen their scientific thinking. On the course, they discover how key concepts in Biology make sense of the natural world, putting to rest all of those theories that they were once curious about. Relevant practical skills are integrated with the numerous topics to mix hands-on learning with academic lessons.Using The Exam Boards' Past PapersDoing past papers is probably the best form of revision you can do in the run up to your Biology GCSE exam, especially if you are new to formulating exam-style responses.By using past papers properly, you can work on improving your technique, thus growing in confidence. However, it is no good simply reading past paper questions or just jotting down answers hapha zardly. Here are some tips on how best to use these resources. How To Use Past Papers For Successful RevisionIn the run up to your end of year exam, your teacher may organise a mock exam for you, or set a classroom task which simulates an exam. This will help you familiarise yourself with the exam setting. For instance, pupils must arrive on time during examinations, and can only take a small number of items (including refreshments, stationery and, at times, books) into the hall with them. But, most importantly, there is strictly no talking, passing notes or any other form of communication allowed.Exam-taking is not all about what you know and how well you cope under pressure though. A very important aspect of being assessed is how effectively you communicate your responses. Consulting past papers can enhance your ability to respond well and gain extra marks by teaching you what it is the examiner is looking for. That said, be aware that past papers currently available may differ from your actual exam because of the changes to the curriculum.Regardless, familiarise yourself with the types of questions that are commonly set and ask yourself what it is they are trying to get out of you.Approaching the exam with some level of confidence is encouraged but pupils need to be realistic and educate themselves on the mark scheme. Not enough emphasis is placed on these documents, but the fact is that they tell you how to pass your exam - so take note!Guides And Resources For GCSE Biology RevisionThe BoardsHelpful Biology resources can be found on each of the exam boards’ websites. For example, AQA’s website has a page linking to teaching resources as well as documents for students to download.OCR, meanwhile, proposes high-quality resources which can be searched by qualification type and resource type, to help you find the right documents for you. You can also download a skills guide from their site to match your personal skills to particular qualifications. This could be a worthwhile activity for those unsure where they are heading.Reminder: Do not miss the past papers, which as you now know can be a great help when it comes to preparing for exams.Revision WebsitesIf you have not yet come across it, be sure to visit BBC Bitesize for your learning needs throughout the course. This website, dedicated to UK students of all ages and taking a variety of exams, will help to break down the topics in an easy way and will additionally make learning that little bit more fun.As well as BBC Bitesize, Revision World is a fantastic place for students to go during times of need. This easy to use website offers students study help, coursework assistance, essay writing tips, past papers and many more valuable resources to make revising easy and enjoyable.Revision materials can be found anywhere and everywhere but there are some websites that are particularly useful. Photo credit: Solent Creatives via Visual Hunt / CC BYGetting hold of revision materials online is brilliant as most resources are easily accessible at the click of a button, plus they are usually free (bonus!).Exam Timetables And GradingTimetables for compulsory exams like GCSEs are released up to two years in advance, accessible by you or your biology tutor, but are subject to amendments until the final timetables are confirmed, usually in the 12 months prior to the assessment period. Why not use this to your advantage by planning revision sessions to fit around your exam schedule, so that you can visualise how the weeks leading to the exam period will pan out? Be sure to plan and do everything you want to do before reaching the date of the exam. For instance, if you want to visit a particular Science museum, then make sure you do not waste any time and get this booked into your diary now. And, speaking of diaries, it is a good idea to highlight key dates in your diary, planner or on a calendar in your room to maintain your focus during those last weeks gearing up to exams. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail! For information on finding a GCSE or a level biology tutor, you can speak to Superprof. They will be able to help you find biology gcse help by showing you the way to a biology online tutor or someone nearby (i.e. if you live in Glasgow then they will provide details of a biology tutor glasgow).
